Dear Joshua:
In my college Geography class, one of the students made a joke about Noah’s Ark. The teacher laughed along with most of the other kids in class and said there was no ark, no great flood and that it was all just one big fairy tale.
That hurt me because I am a diehard Christian who takes the Bible literally. I wish there was something I could have said to shut them all up. Have any advice for me should the same subject ever come up again?

Anyway, let’s get started.
We’s gonna take the G-rated, elementary approach to this whole ark dilemma — the Sound of Music version. “Let’s start at the very beginning. A very good place to start…” (You can sing it and add a little British accent to make it more authentic, whatever you like).
Where It All Began…
Unfortunately, my friend, the core dispute doesn’t begin with Noah, his ark, or the flood. The doubts ensue long before that catastrophe… they commence at the beginning. Christians revere the beginning.
They refer to the beginning as creation, where an all-knowing, all-loving God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. We (yup, I’m in that group) are also known as Creationists. The opposite is true of left-wing professors… ahem, I’m sorry, “College” or “University” professors.
They propose the widely held Charles Darwin Theory of Evolution, AKA natural selection, wherein organisms change over time to adapt to their environment and actually become new species. Time being the miracle worker to gradually change one organism or matter into something new. And, as George Wald states, “Time is in fact the hero (their hero not ours) of the plot.
What we regard as impossible on the basis of human experience is meaningless here. Given so much time, the “impossible” becomes possible, the possible probable, and the probable virtually certain. One has only to wait: Time itself performs the miracles.”
Sound plausible?
NOT!!!
Now, since we don’t see forms of life become new forms today, evolution is an impossible process to comprehend. So in order for us (the world) to buy it, it had to have happened over an incomprehensible amount of time, hence the Earth is millions of years old.
But if you use the Bible to calculate 6 actual days for creation, you are removing the millions of years that scientists need for their evolution to take place. And if they — the science community — accept this as truth (a young Earth) they will be called anti-science or anti-academic, they’ll be mocked, ridiculed and shamed, because Evolutionists have to have millions of years for their theory to be valid.
EVOLUTION???
The truth is that with the overwhelming amount of data available today, more and more scientists are increasingly jumping ship on the evolution theory!
Besides… there are so many holes in their theory! But, don’t you worry my “M In M” friend, if you stick with me, we’ll expose all of them!!
Okay, so, interestingly enough, Darwin didn’t even come up with the Theory of Evolution, he just popularized it. In fact, when he first introduced his findings, he was so ridiculed and embarrassed that he removed his initial examples of Darwinism from his books!
Presently, “Darwin’s finches” are the most common example given as his proof of evolution. But just because this illustration is taught in school, it doesn’t mean that the finch has evolved. The finch was a bird. Its beak changed to adapt to its living environment. Some beaks were small some beaks big — kind of like noses — but the finch did not become another species; it remained a bird. All Darwin was actually portraying was… adaptation.
Another such Evolutionist who has a lot of expertise in paleoanthropology (the study of fossil man) is Dr. David Pilbeam of the Boston Natural History Museum. He alleged that many of the statements made in the field of human origins had “very little to do with the real data and a great deal to do with unstated assumptions.” He went on to state that he “did not believe any longer that he was likely to hit upon the true or correct story of the origin of man.”

Now, Evolutionists and Creationists can go at it all day… debunking one another’s alleged proof or findings for example…

One that is particularly telling is when scientists themselves question why there are no (dubious or otherwise) transitional fossils found to corroborate the evolution of a species. Within the scope of the thousands of fossils recovered and the claim that evolution has been occurring for hundreds of millions of years, shouldn’t there be at least a couple hundred forms that are irrefutable as transitional fossils?
Regardless, world-renowned fossil expert, Dr. Colin Patterson, formerly the senior paleontologist for the British Museum of Natural History, acquiesced when questioned by Creationist Luther Sutherland, as to why there were no images of transitional fossils in his book, Evolution. Here’s what he admitted:
The Truth Comes Out…
“… I fully agree with your comments on the lack of direct illustration of evolutionary transitions in my book. If I knew of any, fossil or living, I would certainly have included them.” He went on to report, “Yet Gould and the American Museum people are hard to contradict when they say there are no transitional fossils. As a paleontologist myself, I am much occupied with the philosophical problems of identifying ancestral forms in the fossil record.
You say that I should at least ‘show a photo of the fossil from which each type of organism was derived.’ I will lay it on the line – there is not one such fossil for which one could make a watertight argument.”
And even after dedicating twenty years to this science, his remarks at a lecture given at the NYC Museum of Natural History were earth shattering!
“ … I’m speaking on two subjects, Evolutionism and Creationism, and I believe it’s true to say that I know nothing whatsoever about either … One of the reasons I started taking this anti-evolutionary view, well, let’s call it non-evolutionary, was last year I had a sudden realization. One morning I woke up … and it struck me that I had been working on this stuff [evolution] for twenty years, and there was not one thing I knew about it.”
He further concluded, “That was quite a shock that one could be misled for so long … I’ve tried putting a simple question to various people and groups of people: “Can you tell me anything you know about evolution, any one thing that you think is true?’”
The Sound of Silence…
I tried that question on the geology staff in the Field Museum of Natural History, and the only answer I got was silence. I tried it on the members of the Evolutionary Morphology Seminar in the University of Chicago … and all I got there was silence for a long time, and then eventually one person said: ‘Yes, I do know one thing. It ought not to be taught in high school.’”
OK, I think it’s fair to say we can move on from the Evolution Theory!
Next up, Genetics. Observational science also contradicts the “millions of years” idea, and supports that the Earth is just over 6,000 years old. Surprisingly, after much, much study, Dr. Robert Carter, a world-renowned DNA specialist, concluded that the Y chromosome in every male around the world shows a link to one man’s family.
Wanna guess who that man was?

- (Day six) land animals and man
- (Day seven) God rested and said,

Skeptics always have to throw in, “Who knows the length of God’s day? God says a day is like a 1,000 years and a thousand years like a day.”
Amen, at least they are quoting God!
First off though, the statement annuls itself, but moreover, it is because God is outside of time! We humans calculate by time, but God lives outside of time. However, One Day comes from the Hebrew word “Yom” which is used 2,301 times in the Bible to mean a 24-hour period. The beginning days are measured from evening to morning — most likely because the beginning is marked by darkness.

OK, so as I see it, what we have here is an authority issue. Maybe even a salvation issue! We believe in the knowledge and the authority of God, scientists believe in the knowledge and the authority of man. One thing I know for sure though is that man cannot save us! (More on that later.)
Christians & Creation???
Did you know that most Christians are confused or unknowledgeable about creation? They are tempted to accept the fallible word of man (evolution) over the infallible Word of God (creation). Isn’t that what happened in the Garden of Eden with the serpent? Didn’t man decide to believe the serpent over God? How’d that pan out?
Sin and death entered a perfect world. But ‘til this day, Christians will ask, “Did God mean He literally created the world in 6 days? One man… one woman? Did He really tell Noah to build an ark because He was going to destroy all of humanity with a great flood?”
They doubt a portion of their faith. They believe that Jesus is the Son of God, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, but somehow the Old Testament got the bit about creation and the ark wrong.
Hmmmmm… Well I guess they don’t doubt everything, because they accept a 7-day week, which originated — you guessed it — in the Bible!
Not to sound un-Christian like, but shall we school these guys, too?

Christian brothers and sisters… listen up! You can’t believe the Bible in part, it’s all accurate and true! Either Jesus was who He said He was, or He was a liar!
In the words of Eminem, I’mma add a little fossil fuel to this dinosaur theory! What the heck, it’s already up in flames! If dinosaurs roamed the Earth millions of years ago, before Adam and Eve existed (before the fall of man), then why do the fossil records show dinosaurs with signs of cancer, arthritis, and disease? If they existed before the fall of man and God said, “Everything is good,” did God think disease was good? If fossils of thorns and thistles were also present in the fossil record, wouldn’t those have to be AFTER the fall of man… and not prior to?
Specifically… since Jesus is recorded as asking, “Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?” God never intended for man to have to encounter such things in the garden. Think about that… as a believer in Christ… does it add up to believe that dinosaurs existed before the fall of man?
Nope!!!
I will leave you with this final thought, Jesus’ own words in Matthew 24:36-39, foretelling His second coming.
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.”
We have questioned evolution, the age of the earth, and dinosaurs existing millions of years ago. Scientists have to examine the facts that now support creation.
Believers have to examine their faith. Contradiction is not applicable to God’s infallible Word. He means what He says… literally.
Jesus, as the Son of God is the final authority, The Way, The Truth, and The Life. Jesus confirms Noah, his ark, and the flood.
That said… Maybe M In M can stand for Made (as in, created) In Manhattan, ‘cause creation is a solid case that holds water!!
